The European Research Council (ERC) has opened a call for proposals under the ERC Advanced Grant scheme. Applications can be submitted until August 27, 2026, at 17:00 (CET).
The ERC Advanced Grant is intended for outstanding researchers who are leaders in their fields, have significant scientific achievements, and experience in managing research teams.
ERC funds frontier research – pioneering, ground-breaking scientific projects with a high potential for significant impact on the advancement of science. Projects may cover all fields of research and are evaluated solely on the basis of scientific excellence.
The maximum funding available for research projects is €2.5 million for projects lasting up to 5 years, with the possibility to apply for additional funding of up to €1 million. Researchers moving to Europe from outside the EU or countries associated with the Horizon Europe programme may apply for additional relocation support of up to €2 million.
The call documentation, including the Guide for Applicants, is available on the call webpage. Applications must be submitted electronically via the Funding & Tenders Opportunities portal by 27 August 2026 at 17:00 (CET).
Applicants are also encouraged to take advantage of support offered under the ERC Mentoring Initiative.
