ABOUT THE WEEK

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Week is a new initiative of the European Commission, Directorate-General for Research and Member States of the European Union aimed at:

  • presentation of life, scientific work and achievements of the great Polish scientist
  • presentation, based on the work of Marie Curie, on how the scientific discoveries influence the development of new disciplines and what is the role of a science in our live
  • encouragement to build up new international collaboration networks among research institutions, students and pupils studying and working abroad
  • promotion of the mobility and career development of researchers

    For the first time the Marie Curie Week was organised last year in Brussel. This year it is organised in cooperation with Poland - the homeland of Marie Skłodowska-Curie. In the incoming years it will be held in other EU member states. The main event of the Marie Curie Week is the Marie Curie Awards Ceremony. The prizes will be awarded to outstanding fellows who benefitted from the European scholarship programme commemorating the Polish scientist - Marie Curie Actions.

    The Marie Curie Week is organised under the patronage of:
  • Janez Potočnik - European Commissioner for Research
  • Michał Kleiber - Minister of Scientific Research and Information Technology

    The Week, organised in Warsaw form 3 to 10 November 2004, comprises a series of events addressed to secondary schools teachers and pupils, students, scientists and general public.

    The participation is free of charge, but for some of the events the registration is advisable- especially in case of school groups. The detailed information you will find in the sections regarding each event.
