Project Description (describe project idea briefly)
The name of the Project is ‘Maths for Everybody’. The project aims to
develop positive ideas for maths, to create an environment and contexts
favourable to the emergence of a new relation to the scientific
knowledge and to the acquisition by the pupils of the scientific methods
for 9 – 14 years old. We know that there are some difficulties in
teaching Science and Mathematics. Some of the students lack of interest
Science and Math. We are teaching maths to the pupils by using same
applications: game theory, mathematical activities, mathematical games,
puzzles, tangram, kaleidoscope, chess, and computer games etc.
The project should focus on enjoyable maths, self-learning, developing
the analytical idea, teaching maths living and touching. They do not let
them fear from maths, to learn all the scientific sides and enjoyable
parts of math and to show the different and joyful parts of teaching math.
Key words : Do not let them fear from maths, enjoyable maths for living.

Short Profile of Organisation
The educational program in Mathematics is designed to provide the
fundamentals of contemporary Mathematics. For the first four semesters
students are subject to take common compulsory courses such as Calculus,
Analytic Geometry, Abstract Mathematics Linear algebra, Topology,
Differential Equations and Computer Sciences. Starting with the fifth
semester they select one of these three programs: Pure Maths., Applied
Maths., and Computer Sciences. The third year and fourth year of
curriculum include compulsory and optional courses in each of the
programs. The Diploma Project undertaken in the fourth year places an
emphasis of Research and Development and is submitted as a thesis.
Short Profile of Organisation
NMV is a village completely dedicated to Mathematics, situated on top of
a hill, 80 km south of Izmir, 1 km from the town of Selçuk’s village of
Şirince. Surrounded by pines, olive trees and cypresses, it is a village
of houses built from wood, stone, mud and hay. Nature at its purest
state… the view of the valley and mountains is absolutely incredible. It
is free from any factors which avert focus and prevent thought, such as
radio, TV, or public music broadcasts. It is also an environment where
no-one is bothered or disturbed by anyone else or any kind of noise,
vulgarity or ugliness - as free and natural as possible in order to get
involved in Mathematics.
Mathematics is the only prize…
Our aim is to offer an egalitarian and non-hierarchical environment
where all kinds of mathematical activities, as well as research from the
elementary to the advanced level, can take place simultaneously.
Participants are not awarded any diploma, certificate, document or
prize. There are no examinations or grades. Students can give a seminar
or a lecture on any subject of their choice. The Mathematics village’s
residents’ only purpose is to share mathematics. Those who know teach
those who don’t.
