Organisation activities:
The Experimentarium was born in 2001. Its purpose is to create a real
dialog between researcher and the public. To do so, the Experimentarium :
- Organises the training of young researchers on scientific
popularisation : Researchers are trained by a professional team in
science communication to run a short workshop around their own activity
which leads to a real dialog (even with 10 years old kids).
- Develops efficient communication tools to popularise research
(portraits of researchers, radio show, films, etc.)
- Takes part actively to activities such as French « fête de la science
», European Researcher’s Night, or special evening dedicated to meeting
with researchers and the general public.
Since 2001,: more than 30000 visitors (60% general public, 40% pupils)
came to this programme. 2000 “face to face meetings” have been
organized. 150 researchers have participated (coming from very different
research areas : social sciences, humanities, biology, mathematics,
physics, etc.)
In 2003, the Experimentarium won the “Diderot” award for science
communication (French award))

Participation in European & international R&D projects:
The team of the Experimentarium ran 5 “one week workshop” on
popularization of science in different countries: Taiwan, Thailand,
Romania and France. More precisely the goal was to train researchers to
communicate with general public (by face to face communication).
Expertise offered/sought:
First, the Experimentarium can open his activity to researchers in
industry. And then it can also be a partner in a European program which
propose meeting between researchers or engineers and the public.
Researchers of the Experimentarium (who are trained for public relation)
can participate to events everywhere in Europe. Our program in Burgundy
can also welcome researchers from other countries.
Furthermore, the team of the Experimentarium can run workshop to train
researcher to communicate with general public.
Our team can offer this expertise.
